Welcome to the Molecular Genomics Laboratory Website
The Molecular Genomics Laboratory at the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institutes of Child Health and Human Development provides diagnostic tests for genetic disorders. Our tests include full gene analysis by DNA sequencing. Our mission is to offer accurate and innovative tools to facilitate diagnosis, counseling and treatment of hereditary disorders.
Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA)
CLIA standards were established “to ensure the accuracy, reliability, and timeliness of patient test results regardless of where the test was performed.” The MGL - NICHD provides service to clinical researchers, including identification and confirmation of mutations for release to patients and physicians. The primary mission of MGL–NICHD is to provide DNA sequence data of the gene(s) requested on the submitted DNA samples.
Standards of Accreditation
CLIA applies to DNA testing facilities that are focused on medical diagnostic testing. Patients undergoing DNA testing at the accredited labs will receive quality services and reliable results in a timely manner.
